Downstream Integration from PA to DEP

Diethyl Phthalate (DEP) is manufactured at IGPL's Taloja campus through esterification of phthalic anhydride with ethanol. Unlike the other three products, which are byproduct recoveries, DEP represents deliberate downstream integration — adding value to the core PA product through further processing.

DEP is a clear, colourless, low-volatility liquid plasticiser primarily used in cosmetics and personal care formulations, fragrance fixation, nail care products, and specialty PVC applications. It is one of the few phthalate plasticisers permitted in cosmetics under regulatory frameworks in multiple jurisdictions.

IGPL's access to captive PA feedstock at integrated cost provides a significant advantage over standalone DEP manufacturers who must source PA at market prices. This cost advantage supports competitive and stable DEP pricing.
