Recovered at Scale from the PA Process

Maleic anhydride (MA) is produced as a byproduct during the catalytic oxidation of ortho-xylene in IGPL's PA production process. Rather than treating it as waste, IGPL recovers and purifies MA from the gas-phase reaction stream, converting a process byproduct into a commercial-grade product.

MA is an important industrial chemical used primarily in the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), maleic copolymers, lubricating oil additives, and agricultural chemicals. Its primary application is as a co-monomer with phthalic anhydride in UPR systems used in construction composites, pipes, and tanks.

Because MA is recovered from the same process as PA, its feedstock cost is effectively zero. This gives IGPL's MA attractive margins and stable production volumes that track IGPL's PA output.
